We take great care to ensure that every new release of Sketch runs smoothly. However, we understand that, in some rare cases, new versions can introduce unexpected issues. In these situations, rolling back to a previous version of the Sketch Mac App may be necessary, but it should only be considered a last resort.
Considerations before rolling back
Before deciding to roll back, we recommend trying to troubleshoot the issue you’re experiencing with our Product Support team. You can reach them through this contact form. If you’re unable to resolve the problem, and no other solutions are available, then rolling back might be the appropriate step.
How to roll back to a previous version
If you’ve discarded other options and need to roll back, follow these steps:
-
Quit the Sketch Mac app: Ensure that the current version of Sketch is closed.
- Find your desired version:
- Visit our releases page to select the version you want to install.
- Download and install:
- Locate the desired version and click the corresponding download link.
- Unzip the file and move the app to the
/Applications
folder. - If macOS alerts you that an app named “Sketch” already exists, you can either choose “Replace” or rename the older version to keep both versions.
Note: You can have multiple versions of Sketch installed at the same time, and they will all share the same preferences.
Rolling back to a previous version should only be done when absolutely necessary. While this can help resolve certain issues, it may also cause compatibility problems with your documents. If you need assistance during the rollback process, don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
