This feature is only available on request — to enable it, an Admin in your Workspace will need to contact our customer support team.
If your team or organization has security or compliance concerns around saving files to our servers, you can completely restrict document uploads in your Workspace.
This process is only available on request and will limit the features available to you in your Workspace, but it will mean you can manage Workspace members and Mac app access while enforcing a local-only workflow for everyone except Workspaces Admins.
Restricting document uploads
To restrict document uploads, head to Settings in the web app.
In the Restrict Document Uploads section click on Restrict document uploads. Fill out the contact form and one of our customer support team members will check your request and enable the feature for you.
Remember, only Workspace Admins and Owners can request this feature.
Once we’ve switched the feature on in your Workspace, head to the Settings page and click on the Restrict Uploads button. We’ll ask you to confirm your decision. Then, every Admin and Editor in the Workspace will receive a confirmation email.
Even if you have enabled this feature, Admins in your Workspace will still be able to save documents to your Workspace, making it possible to continue sharing design systems and Libraries for Editors to pick up and use.
Re-enabling document uploads
Your Workspace Admin can easily re-enable uploads for everyone at any time. That means, if you change your mind later, you can still take full advantage of our collaborative tools.
Head to Settings, look for Enable Document Uploads and click on the Enable Uploads button.
Comparing functions
This feature will significantly limit your team’s Workspace features. Restricting document uploads means everyone apart from Workspace Admins will need to save files locally, which will require an alternative way to share work with your teammates and Guests. You won‘t be able to use features like My Drafts or collaborate in real-time in the Mac app.
