Plugins allow you to do even more with the Mac app by extending the app’s functionality. Most plugins are made by third-party developers — some are free to download, while others need to be purchased directly from the developer.

## Finding and installing Plugins

The best place to find plugins is on our [Plugins & Integrations](/plugins/) page. When you find a plugin you want to use, download and double-click on it to install it.

Once you’ve installed a plugin, you can access its features from the **Plugins** menu.

## Managing and uninstalling Plugins

> **Note:** If you have downloaded Sketch from the Mac App Store, you won’t be able to install, enable or use plugins due to security restrictions.

Choose **Plugins > Manage Plugins…** to open up the [Plugins tab in the Mac app’s settings](/docs/interface-and-settings/mac-app-settings/plugins/). From there you can view a plugin’s documentation, disable it, or remove it completely.

### Disabling plugins with safe Mode

Sometimes, after updates or bug fixes in the Mac app, Plugins can behave unexpectedly or cause the Mac app itself to hang or crash. To see if this is the case, restart the Mac app while pressing <kbd>⇧</kbd>. This will launch the Mac app in Safe Mode and disable any plugins you have installed. Restart The Mac app again to reenable all of your plugins.

## Creating a Plugin

To find out more about how you can create your own plugins for the Mac app, take a look at our [developer site](https://developer.sketch.com/).

## Integrations

There’s also a huge number of third party apps that integrate with the Mac app. You’ll find integrations for Developer handoff, version control, user testing and more on our [Plugins & Integrations page](/plugins/#all-plugins).
